Green Ridge State Forest Backpack, December 2004

Day 1 Hiking (December 30, 2004)
Day 1 Camp (December 30, 2004)
Day 2 Hiking (December 31, 2004)
Day 3 Hiking (January 1, 2005)

This was a 2 night backpacking trip that I took with my friend Randall to the Green Ridge State Forest in Western Maryland.  I had never backpacked there before, though I did travel there once with my daughter to camp while we biked on the C&O Canal Towpath around the area of the Paw Paw Tunnel.   I got the idea of backpacking in Green Ridge after seeing a description of a good backpack along the Long Pond Trail.   The timing worked out well for this trip.  We both had time off from work between Christmas 2004 and New Years Day, and the weather turned really warm after several weeks of bitter cold.  This was the last chance for us to travel together for a while, too, since Randall was going to be moving to Idaho at the end of January.  The big plus on this trip was being able to enjoy a winter landscape without the accompanying cold weather and snow.
